Visible is an album compilation following an annual Music Mentoring Program established by Multicultural Arts Victoria. Visible refers to the the increased access, participation and ‘visibility’ of new and emerging refugee communities in the arts.
Visible 6 celebrates six years of providing a platform for musicians from emerging refugee backgrounds who have escaped troubles in their homeland and have faced challenges establishing themselves in musical careers. Visible links participants with established producers, musicians and industry representatives to open pathways and networks into the music industry.
This years artwork links 50 emerging artists from diverse backgrounds including African, Sri Lankan, Colombian and Pacific Islander. The sounds are young and fresh, rich with culture and are represented by the use of brighter colours, dots and pattern artwork. The concept originates around a series of traditional African masks used in musical ceremonies. Printed on uncoated, recycled stock with the environment in mind, you can feel the texture and depth of the illustrated albums.
